Case Study: Navigating Difficult Intrauterine System (IUS) Insertion

Counselling patients with Menorrhagia and high BMI

     

    28 year old patient with body mass index (BMI) above 30 visits your clinic with heavy menstrual bleeding. She has a history of loop diathermy of the cervix, which occurred 2 years ago. Mirena® (52mg levonorgestrel) IUS was attempted, however, fitting by a healthcare professional was unsuccessful as cervix was difficult to visualise. These patient case studies are all fictitious.
